Paris: Syctom-SIAAP - Innovation partnership for the utilization of organic waste and sewage sludge
Energy from waste and sewage sludge for a climate-neutral future in Paris
Syctom and SIAAP, two of the largest public operators in Europe for waste and wastewater disposal, have launched an innovation partnership. The aim is to develop a breakthrough solution that will methanize the organic fraction of municipal waste and sewage sludge in the greater Paris area to maximize energy recovery, minimize by-products and meet the highest environmental standards. This flagship project aims to make Paris the world’s leading city in organic waste recycling and promote safe, climate-neutral energy production.
Project partners:
- Initiators: Syctom and SIAAP (Paris region)
- Consortium: Tilia, France Biogaz Valorisation, DBFZ, Fraunhofer Institute, GICON
Objectives:
- Maximum methane production
- Best possible energy balance
